People tell their stories to express themselves. So do I, sometimes even inspired by and for others. When I create, I take my time. To tell a story.

I don’t want to focus on just 1 thing when it comes to art – but there’s 1 thing that’s for sure. Everything I create is art. Most of it is pattern based. How did I get here? Well, that’s a long story, but here’s the short version.

I’m Michelle — the founder of Mieschief.

Becoming an artist wasn’t a straight line for me. It’s been a journey through self-doubt, burnouts and a lot of restarts. Eventually, gradually, finding my way back to the one thing that always made sense: creating.

I’ve always felt things deeply — sometimes too much — and for a long time I tried to fit in, to not be too loud, too emotional, too different. But it never really worked. So unfortunately, I stopped trying. And that’s when I found Mieschief.

Mieschief is where all the parts of me come together. I don’t want to pick one medium or one path — I create what feels right in the moment. Most of it starts with patterns: handpicked colours that feel right, strange elements that make you wonder what they mean, and above all, very personal. Sometimes it becomes wearable art, sometimes it’s something you can hang on your wall. It’s all handmade, mostly with ecological fabrics printed right here in the Netherlands.

I believe art isn’t just something to look at. It’s something to live in. To feel on your skin, to surround yourself with. That’s why I make what I make — slow fashion, textile art, real things that carry stories.

Everything I create is a part of me. And I hope, in some way, it speaks to a part of you too.
